How to Change Bullet Points on a List for Blogger

Blogger creates templates that allow you to set up your blog quickly and with little design knowledge. Altering the templates is an advanced function, but you can make small changes without any knowledge of HTML. The key to different bullet points is in the style code. Once you know how to access the source code for the template, just enter the name of the shape you want in the list style instructions.

  1. 1.

Log onto your Blogger account and click Design. If you are viewing the blog, this option sits in the top right-hand corner of the screen. If you are on the Dashboard, it sits just under the blog title.

  2. 2.

Move to the top of the screen and click Edit HTML. This opens the source code of the blog.

  3. 3.

Press "Ctrl" and "F" on your keyboard at the same time. This opens a search function on your screen. Enter "list-style"—without the quotes—into the search text box and hit "Enter." This will take you to the CSS code on your Blogger template that controls the bullet points.

  4. 4.

Delete the current shape listed for your bullets and type in the new shape. For example, if the code reads "list-style: square" and you want circles, change it to "list-style: circle."

  5. 5.

Move to the bottom of the screen and click the "Save template" button.

How to Remove a Blog Title Widget in Blogger

By default, blogs that are created on Google's Blogger platform contain a blog title (or widget) element that is displayed at the top of each page to allow visitors to conveniently identify your blog after they load it in their browsers. For aesthetic reasons, though, you may want to remove this element from your template. You can do so by editing your blog's HTML code and its layout settings.

  1. 1.

Open your Web browser and log in to your Blogger dashboard.

  2. 2.

Click on the downward-pointing arrow next to the name of the blog you wish to edit and select "Template."

  3. 3.

Click on the "Edit HTML" button and select "Proceed."

  4. 4.

Press "Ctrl-F" to open your browser's search box and paste the following code snippet in it:

    widget id='Header1' locked='true'

Your browser should now automatically locate the section of your blog's HTML code that contains that snippet.

  5. 5.

Replace "true" with "false" to unlock the header and click on "Save Template." By default Blogger prevents users from being able to remove the blog title element. Select "Close."

  6. 6.

Select "Layout" from the left column and click "Edit" under the Header element.

  7. 7.

Click "Remove" at the bottom of the window and select "OK."

  8. 8.

Save your new template by clicking on "Save Arrangement."
